Oxford Open Doors: Bartlemas Chapel
As part of the Oxford Open Doors weekend Archeox will be running a building survey at Bartlemas Chapel followed by the chapel open day on Sunday the 9th of September
Building Survey: Friday the 7th and Saturday the 8th of September from 10-4 (EVENT NOW FULL)
We will be running a building survey recording the fabric and form of the outside of the chapel. Photographs can provide us with a great record of a building, but drawing the fabric in sketched detail can really bring them to life! We will be working in a team of 4 taking it in turns to measure and record. Both days will be split into two sessions with a lunch break from 12.30 till 1. You can take part in the whole day but If you would like to do just a morning or afternoon session, just let us know when you request a place. Due to the nature of this event there will be a limited number of places. If you would like to take part or have any questions, please email Jo (jo@archeox.net) by Friday the 31st and places will be confirmed on Monday the 3rd of September. As always those who are new to the project are more than welcome to attend this event as full guidance will be given. This event is free.
Bartlemas Chapel Open Doors Day, Sunday 9 September 10am - 6pm; Volunteer guides needed!
Please would anyone who was involved with the excavation and would like to help with talking to visitors to the Chapel on this Open Day let us know? We suggest shifts of a couple of hours. If anyone has photos, drawings they'd like exhibiting in the Chapel that day do also get in touch. This is also another opportunity for anyone to visit the Chapel, which is also - in that week - hosting an exhibition by the CPRE. While we would need those who volunteer for this event to have been involved in the excavation/post excavation and/or research of the site, those who are new to the project are more than welcome to attend the free open day to learn about the chapel and meet some of the volunteers who were involved!
