Matrix Project: Meet and Speak with the Artists
While we were digging at Minchery Paddock some of you will have met Tara, Filipe and Luch. They are artists (a musician, composer and visual artist) who will be working in collaboration with you all to create a piece drawing on your experiences of excavation and the archaeological process!
The artists would like to chat to you about your experiences and would be delighted if you were able to spare any time on Sunday 25th November or Monday 26th November to visit them at Bartlemas Farmhouse- all details below.
INFORMATION FROM THE ARTISTS:
We are three artists who create art work that combines visuals, sound and music. Taking the Matrix (inspired by the Matrix Matrix) as a starting point, we are keen to explore the methodlical way every aspect of a dig is tracked, recorded and logged. We will investigate and record visually and through sound the unique momentum/rythm and ritualistic qualities of archaeological activity.
We would like to approach this by working with the volunteers who have adopted these systems. If you would be willing, as part of our initial exploration we would very much like to talk to you about your experience of the dig.
We will be based at Bartlemas Farmhouse, Cowley Road, Oxford OX4 2JA
Please do get in touch by e-mail (Tara:tafanks@hotmail.com) or phone (Tara:07976982988) if you have the time. It will take around 30 minutes and there will be an endless supply of tea and cakes on hand!
Best wishes from Tara, Filipe and Lucy.
On behalf of all the team we hope lots of you take this fantastic opportunity to be involved with such a unique and engaging way of recording on site activities and experience!
