  • Join Oxford University's Department for Continuing Education for 'Open Day East', an afternoon of free education, lectures and information sessions on Saturday, 14th June from 1-4pm, held at 'The Union' Adult Learning Centre, Collins Street, in East Oxford. Olaf Bayer will speak about the East Oxford Archaeology project, Yasmin Khan will present 'Black and Asian Oxford: 200 Years of History', Janina Ramirez (known for her documentary work on the BBC) will talk about 'The Treasures of the Anglo-Saxons' and Marianne Talbot will conduct a whirlwind tour of Philosophy – and these are only 4 of the 20 events on offer. There are sessions on the availability of funding for our courses, drop-in sessions on online learning, study skills and much more. Refreshments will be served, and there will be people on hand to answer your questions. Open Day East is being held to introduce the Department for Continuing Education to people who may not know about the wonderful educational opportunies available to part-time adult learners at the University — over 1,000 courses and programmes per year. The event is free. Please come along and bring a friend.
