The finds we will be sorting are all from the Minchery Paddock excavations carried out in October and November last year. These sessions are a great chance to handle finds and a perfect introductory workshop for those who are new to the project.The sorting process involves going through the finds from each context/layer, recording them on a basic form (including any notes or observations you would like to add such as marks on bones) and separating the finds into categories such as bone, pottery, charcoal, metal, clay pipe etc. We also take photos of the finds at this stage as they are hugely helpful for the specialists who go on to look at the finds for us.New volunteers including those who didn't take part in the excavations are more than welcome to come along! All training and equipment is provided, just bring lunch. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch.
