Chapel service for reburial of human remains from Bartlemas Excavation
The Archeox project's excavation at Bartlemas Chapel in Oct-Nov 2011 resulted in the temporary disinterment of a range of disarticulated human remains from charnel pits, which have now been studied and recorded. On Sat 9 Nov 2013 these remains will be respectfully reinterred within the chapel burial ground with a formal religious service of reburial conducted by the parish priest of St Mary & St John Cowley, with a choir in attendance. The project will excavate a small trench for the reinterment prior to the service. Volunteers (particularly those who worked on or visited the 2011 dig) are welcome to attend. Please arrive with plenty of time before 11am. No driving or parking up the lane please.
